The Different Types of
SLIT METAL EDGES

The slitting of metal often results in sharp edges with a sometimes unwelcome side-effect – burrs. These small pieces of material can be hazardous to handle and impede certain manufacturing processes and are often removed by edge conditioning.

Edge conditioning is an essential part of the manufacturing process, mechanically removing burr to form a clean, safe and smooth edge that’s ready for further use. This machining process offers a variety of standard edge shapes – including square, round, rolled, and slit – completely tailored to manufacturers’ specific requirements.

Edge conditioning offers a host of advantages, from enhanced safety to productivity gains. By ensuring secure handling, reducing risk and liability exposure, as well as increased formability, manufacturers can benefit greatly from perfect edge conditioning.
