This titanium stabilized ferritic stainless steel is designed specifically for high-heat applications and provides superior resistance to high-temperature scaling over other grades such as Types 409, 430, and 304. 18 SR® has an upper limit of 2000˚F in dry air and provides corrosion resistance in many aqueous media comparable to other ferritic 18% chromium (Cr) stainless alloys. Additionally, 18 SR® has formability and weldability like that of Types 439 and 441 and is also a more economical option than many other high-temperature stainless steel.

Typical high-heat applications include high-speed trains, electrical components, industrial ovens, furnace equipment, heat exchangers, and automotive exhaust components.
